How to Paint Real OR Faux Leather with Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint
You can paint leather, whether it's real or fake, and it will stand up to normal wear and tear. This is one of my favorite home hacks for decorating on a budget, and I'm going to show you how easy it can be.
Read along to see how I used Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint for a leather chair makeover!
I cleaned the surface first. No need to prime your leather unless it's that old 1960's hard patent leather.
I'm using a Dixie Belle Mini Paintbrush to paint all of the leather with the color Chocolate.
Then wait 24 hours to dry before adding more colors.
Now it's time to layer my colors to give it more depth. Once I'm done layering, we'll blend them together so the color look instead of one flat color.
I start with Dixie Belle's Chalk Mineral Paint in the color Dried Sage. There's no rhyme or reason to where I put it. I just want to get an even distribution of this lighter color.
Next, I layer on some of the color Pine Cone followed by Rusty Nail.
Now it's time to start blending with my Best Dang Brush. The right brush makes all the difference, and I can't stress that enough!
I mist the surface with a little water (not too much) then start blending in a circular motion.
I want to add a little shading to the edges for a more aged look. I'm using Dixie Belle's Chalk Mineral Paint in the color Coffee Bean.
The last step is to seal it once the paint is completely dry. You can wait at least 24-48 hours before doing this.
When it comes to DIY Furniture & Decor projects, there's a lot of choices. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. I hope you enjoyed it, and that you're inspired to try something new.
